First Flights

In India, until about two years ago, flying was a luxury, even for well-off people.

My theory is that for most young people, the first flight they ever took would be a flight to the US, either for studies or work ...

Now things are changing .. I think the launch of Air Deccan, the low cost airlines modelled after SouthWest Airlines was the truning point. Now there are a bunch of new airlines and the existing airlines are going international - Jet is going to start flying to the US ...

India is growing up !

Jett Airways Inc USA, Head said

"Jet Airways, Inc objects to the fact that Jet Airways (India) is attempting to fly aircraft into the United States and those aircraft are paid for by an international Al-Qaeda organization. Some of the passengers on those aircrafts are not Indian citizens, but Al-Qaeda fugitive, and with the aid of the Al- Qaeda's own airlines, those who have entered India and easily obtained false identities and passports can board those aircraft and enter this country and complete the mission that they started on September 11, 2002."

Thanks for your comment. I find the entire deal quite absurd though. Jet Airways India has successfully listed on the Mumbai Exchange recently and I cant believe that the due diligence through that process would have let such a thing slip by.

This is just some opportunistic company in the US trying to delay things for Jet, hoping to make some money ....

And yeah, its not as if Al Qaeda has any special advantage in flying Jet, even if they owned it as security is taken care of by the Indian government. Maybe the terrorists could get a first class upgrade, but nothing more !
