IAS Topper !

I actually know the IAS topper from this year. For the non-Indians, IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service - It has got the most amazingly difficult entrance exams !

He was one year ahead of me at BITS, Pilani ... He is definitely one of the most brilliant guys I ever met. I remember how he taught me Advanced Calculus one night ... He could actually visualize everything in 3D !

He really deserves this.

Excerpt from the Hindu (http://www.hindu.com/2005/05/12/stories/2005051212651300.htm)

Railway traffic service official Srinivasan Nagarajan has bagged the top spot in the Union Public Service Commission Civil Services (Main) Examination. The results were announced here on Wednesday.

It may have been his fourth and last attempt but for Tirunelveli-based Mr. Nagarajan, it could not have ended on a better note. A B.Tech from BITS Pilani, he had sociology and geography as options.

Congrats Bheem Boy !
We look forward to seeing you as Cabinet Secretary

Some further information ....

When Bheem first heard the news, he called his mother. His first words were a famous couplet from the great Tamil work Thirukural. Translated to English it says "A mother is happy when she delivers a son, she is happier when he becomes a Scholar".

I join Ammu in Congratulating Bheem!
BITS has a very good collection of books in its library. I am not book worm, but I have noticed one thing in our lib. Almost any trivial book has a stamp of BHEEM's ID number on it.......
Probably his preparation started when he joined BITS!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats once again Bheem

Indeed. The latest Civil Services Chronicle took the interview interview of manish Kumar, the IIM grad who made it to AIR-5. he says that the fact that he was in the same bacth for General studies as Mr.Nagarajan in Sriram's in Delhi must have rubbed off on him and pushed him that far. Modesty indeed.

We are bound to hear more of these guys.

In this modern world the art of Management has become a part and parcel of everyday life, be it at home, in the office or factory and in Government. In all organizations, where a group of human beings assemble for a common purpose irrespective of caste, creed, and religion, management principles come into play through the management of resources, finance and planning, priorities, policies and practice. Management is a systematic way of carrying out activities in any field of human effort.

Its task is to make people capable of joint performance, to make their weaknesses irrelevant, says the Management Guru Peter Drucker. It creates harmony in working together - equilibrium in thoughts and actions, goals and achievements, plans and performance, products and markets. It resolves situations of scarcity, be they in the physical, technical or human fields, through maximum utilization with the minimum available processes to achieve the goal. Lack of management causes disorder, confusion, wastage, delay, destruction and even depression. Managing men, money and materials in the best possible way, according to circumstances and environment, is the most important and essential factor for a successful management.
