This has to stop ...

In a very recent post, I was wondering aloud about the need for so many journalists to be embedded in Iraq for extended periods of time. And within a week, an ABC journalist and cameraman get themselves shot at ...

Do we really need to have so many journalists in Iraq ? Doesn't the responsibility of protecting these journalists overtax an already over-strained military ?

I see no reason for ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC and CNN to each have their own crew there, especially considering the fact that their news reporting is so dramatically "different" from each other ...

Why not have three journalists and cameramen there, at a time ? I don't believe that the Government should be allowed to have a monopoly on war-time news reporting, as was the case in previous wars, but geez, these embedded journalists are just overkill.

Putting their lives at risk to what end ? Does anybody in the US not tune them out ?

With out this journalist, we wont know what really is happening in iraq for the matter any other place.Gives a true picture of the day-day affair of a solider deployed in this war torn zone and the people sufferings from that.

I dont think 3 people can give a fair deal to this kind of issues on which a whole country is dependent on.

After the reports of Bob & Doug's ingury, fox was a doing a negative journalism, showing emails from peopel who were pissed with the Roles of the Press and the coverage to the war without showing any sympathy to their friends.

THis is democracy, if we have more coverage we get to see the best of it.

Is there really a difference between what NBC and CBS are reporting about Iraq - And do you really think they are being absolutely honest in their portrayal of Iraq ?

I dont follow CBS after Dan Rather quit the nightly news. I think NBC & ABC belong to the same category and Fox is opposite of them.

I dont think this channels are completely honest but to some point they r showing the risk and danger. I agree that US has been doing so many good things in Iraq & afganistan (like building schools, hospitals & jobs) which is getting minimal coverage.

just 1 minute of bush's state of the union covered Katrina & the Gulf coast :-(. Providing relief doesnt mean everything is done.
